iPhone 5s update through macbook air problems

I have a Macbook Air with Yosemite X and am trying to update my iPhone 5s in iTunes on Macbook Air. Although I am showing 104 gigs on computer, I keep getting messages that there is not enough storage space on computer to update my phone. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), iOS 9.3.5

You have not told us the storage capacity of your iPhone, nor have you told us how full it is. Perhaps an iPhone backup to iTunes more than exhausts 104GB.

Once you go through this analysis, you might also consider updating the iPhone wirelessly at Settings > General > Software Update on the iPhone.
